Husband commits suicide after killing wife

GAON (HAIBORGAON), August 14:  Sensation prevailed in gaon town following an incident  at gaon town Chaukitup under gaon Sadar police station where in an intoxicated state on Sunday,  a man killed his wife with a sharp weapon and subsequently committed suicide by jumping into the Kolong River.

Luckily, the wife after sustaining severe injury, survived and was undergoing treatment in critical condition in gaon SBP Civil Hospital. According to the sources, the deceased man has been identified as Gobinda Mandal (26) and critically injured wife has been identified as Anjali Mandal (21). The couple was living in a rented house at Choukitup area after marriage and the man usually worked in a hotel.  Economically poor Gobinda Mandal often used to quarrel with his wife. They have a one-year old child.

Sources added that in a drunken condition, Gobinda first rebuked his wife and then he took a sharp weapon and attacked her. When she fell on the floor, he thought that she had died.  Later on, Gobinda Mandal committed suicide by leaping into the Kolong River. The local police already recovered the body of Gobinda and sent it for postmortem.
