The incident came to light on the day of Intertiol Women’s Day yesterday, informed Anjaw deputy commissioner.

As per information received from the parents of the victim, the husband from Samdul village under Hawai circle of the district tried to kill his wife by setting her on fire on February 27 last.

The parents also accused the husband of meting out harassment against his wife both physically and mentally.

Alleging police iction in initiating action against the alleged accused husband despite an FIR was lodged at Police Station, Khupa, the parents demanded adequate compensation and five years of life guarantee to the victim from the offender party.

They also demanded the authority concerned to award exemplary punishment to the alleged accused as per law.
