GAON, May 15: State Agriculture Minister Rakibul Hussain distributed various agro-based machines and materials under various schemes among the farmers of gaon district.
The function was held at the district agriculture officer’s office premise.
According to Sub Divisiol Officer Ashok Borthakur, the 370 beneficiaries were selected by a special committee of the district.
Minister Hussain distributed the machines like pulverizer, maize sellers, power tillers, rice mills, oil mills, electric motors etc among the selected farmers, which also included women.
Hussain, in his speech, slammed the rendra Modi led Central government saying it was an enemy of the farming community. “The Central government has slashed funds for development of the farmers” he said.
He said that the Tarun Gogoi led Congress government in the state would lend its helping hand to each and every farmer of the State. Local MLA Dr. Durlav Chamua, Kabindra Borkakti, Director, Agriculture department, Timothi Hanse, Director, Horti-culture, Pritam Ronpi (DAO) were present at the function among others.
