HYC announces stir programme

Shillong, July 22: The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) on Saturday announced a series of agitatiol programmes stir after Chief Minister, Dr Mukul Sangma paid no heed to the HYC’s 14-point charter of demands, including the need to implement ILP and other mechanisms to safeguard the interest of indigenous people of the State.  
HYC general secretary Robertjune Kharjahrin said that its activists will observe black flag protest on 26th July in the city, besides assembling near the additiol secretariat for a peaceful protest the following day.
On 29th July, the HYC would again invite legislators from Khasi and Jaiñtia hills region who are supporting the Mukul Sangma-led government to discuss their demands.
It may be mentioned here that the HYC has suggested a number of mechanisms to deal with influx problem, such as the cut-off year of 1st January 1971 by implementing the State Permanent Registration Act to be applied only for outsiders who had come and settled in Hynñiewtrep land (Khasi and Jaiñtia region) before January 1, 1971.
