HYC demands appointment of AG, AAG

SHILLONG, March 27: The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) central body today met the Minister of Law, James PK Sangma demanding appointment of Advocate General and Additiol Advocate General for the state.

Speaking to reporters, after the meeting, the union leaders informed that the post of advocate general for the state is an important constitutiol post for the smooth functioning of the government of the state. In addition, Additiol Advocate General is also appointed by the state government to assist the AG in discharging their duties to the government.

The general secretary of HYC Robertjune Jahrin informed that the Ministers have assured them that the matter will be examined and taken up seriously by the government.

“We want a person who is capable of understanding the culture and traditions of the indigenous people of the state hence the government should consider and appoint a local from the state of Meghalaya,” he said.

He said the post if being held by someone from outside the state hence does not know much about the culture and tradition of the people.
