HYC holds parley with traditiol heads

SHILLONG, January 24: The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) today decided to write to the KHADC and JHADC urging it to appeal before the Division bench of the Meghalaya High Court regarding the recent court order dis–empowering the Headmen to issue NOC.

This decision was taken after a meeting held with Headmen from various localities on Saturday.

The HYC has also decided that it will appeal all the traditiol heads, including the Syiems and Dollois to appeal before the division bench for the same.

The HYC  also said that it will also sent a letter to both the ADCs to the recall back the Village Administration Bill and first seek the consultation of all the Dorbars and if already passed will appeal for its amendment.

It may be mentioned that the HYC today had a meeting with Headmen from various localities at the Khasi tiol Dorbar Hall Mawkhar to seek their views and suggestion against the recent court order and also the Village Administration Bill.

According to the HYC the judgment has not only affected the Headmen but also the traditiol chiefs including the District Council. HYC, general secretary, Robertjune Kharjahrin feared that this judgement will lead to unchecked acquiring of land by outsiders without the knowledge of the headman.
