HYC leaders meet DC

Nongstoin, June 14: The Hynniew Trep Youths’ Council Nongstoin Circle, met West Khasi Hills District, Deputy commissioner S. Kharlyngdoh, to discuss the ippropriate implementation of the proposal Bye Law of the Solid & Liquid Resource Magement (SLRM) project, that has been launched by the Sub-Committee of the Nongstoin Town Committee in Nongstoin recently.
The HYC said that the Bye Law of the SLRM project made by the Sub-Committee, is not suitable for the people of the District, especially the schedule four which is the pelties of the Bye Law which stated that “The pelty shall be levied at every instance of the offence”. Meanwhile Lumlang Kharsyiemlieh President HYC, Nongstoin Circle, said that we do need this kind of law but it should be made by the Town Committee it self, and the other committee should not interfere. He also requesting the Deputy Commissioner to immediately remove the Sub Committee.
Speaking to the press personnel, here on Tuesday Deputy commissioner S. Kharlyngdoh, said that the Bye Law that has been made by the Committee was still a draft which has not been approved. He also said that the committee will carry the draft to the public debating platform, in order to get the feedback from the people.
“If the draft Bye Law is not suitable for the people of the District, the Committee will draft another Bye Law” said Kharlyngdoh.
