HYC reiterates demand for ILP

From A Reporter

SHILLONG, Aug 25: After having completed their 93-km march from Nongstoin to the State Capital on Thursday, members of Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) Nongstoin circle began a sigture campaign demanding implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) at Fire Brigade, Laitumkhrah, here on Friday. The HYC members began the march to also demand development of West Khasi Hills district. During the sigture campaign, HYC members were seen carrying placards that read "We choose identity over development", "Implement ILP in Meghalaya", "Stop fooling us, do something important by legislating law", etc.  While addressing the gathering, HYC Shillong unit vice president John Lyngdoh said, "We have been carrying out peaceful demonstrations to accomplish our 'Save Hynniewtrep' Mission, but the State government is indifferent to our demands." He added, "The actions of the State government imply that they want war instead." Lyngdoh threatened that things might get out of hand once the HYC members are fed up with the attitude of the State government.
