From A Reporter

SHILLONG, April 24: The Hynniewtrep Youth Council, Shillong City (HYC-SC), on Monday appraised the Superintendent of Police in-charge Traffic on the grievances faced by the general public due to the new traffic arrangement in the city.

Speaking to reporters after meeting the SP, Banker Dkhar, secretary of HYC-SC, said, “We had discussed on the ‘One Way’ from Pomdngiem which leads to Don Bosco and the duty of traffic personnel and we had suggested the SP to revert the traffic arrangement back to the way it was before.”

He added, “The SP had taken our suggestion and had assured us that he will revert the traffic arrangements to how it was before so as to easy the problems faced by commuters and the general public at large.”

On the behaviour of traffic personnel stationed in the city, the secretary of the Council informed that they have received numerous complaints from the public on the misbehaviour by the traffic personnel against cab drivers and passengers.

“These traffic police are sometimes very rude in their language and their actions clearly indicate that they did not receive proper training from the department,” he said.
