SHILLONG, May 4: The central body  of Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) on Friday demanded of the Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui to conduct an enquiry into the errors which have cropped in many MBOSE text books.

Speaking to reporters, after meeting the Minister, Roy Kupar Synrem education secretary of HYC said, “It was found that in most of these books as published and supplied to the students prescribed by MBOSE contains numerous factual errors as well as misleading information.”

He informed that the Minister has assured the HYC members that their demands will be examined and later a decision will be taken.

“The scale of these errors and misleading information is up to such an extent which we may reach a conclusion that it was done with a conspiracy, ill motive and with a malafide intension to mislead the students,” he said.

He said this is a criminal conspiracy which is a crime as per the law and hence those responsible needs to be punished.

Stating that in orderto find out the truth behind these rampant errors, an independent inquiry by the magistrate or by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is needed so as to enable the Government to take necessary legal actions against the persons involved.

The HYP further urged the Government to consider their request for an enquiry to find out the truth and take corrective measures in the future.
