'Hypertension and diabetes are silent killers'

From our Correspondent

Bongaigaon, May 9: “Hypertension and diabetes are silent killers because most people do not know that they have been affected. Only after long suffering do they realize that they are suffering from hypertension and diabetes. Hence checking blood pressure and sugar level at regular intervals is most essential,” said Dr Itesh Bardoloi, Chief Maging Partner of Lower Assam Hospital and Research Centre of Bongaigaon on Saturday at a free health check-up-cum-health awareness camp held at Atugaon in Bongaigaon district.

This camp is a part of the six-month long mission intended by Lower Assam Hospital and Research Centre to conduct such camps throughout Bongaigaon district in order to make conscious people about health. This was the first camp of this mission. “On Tuesday and Saturday, such camps will be organized in Bongaigaon Tea State and Majgaon,” Dr Bardoloi said. He further said that this was the first phase of his mission. “In this camp we will detect the patients suffering from diabetics, hypertension anemia, and cataract. We have issued health cards to such patients from our hospital. With this card, they will be able to get free medicine for such diseases from the health department free of cost. We will also arrange for free cataract operation in our hospital for poor and needy people,” he said. Dr Bardoloi added that the objective of these camps was not only to make people conscious about their health, but also to make them aware about the Central Government schemes so that poor and needy people could benefit from those schemes.
