I-Day celebration: Cleanliness drive, marathon walk held in Tangla

TANGLA, August 14: Independence Day preparation in Tangla and sub-divisiol town Bhergaon is in full swing with students of schools and educatiol institutions preparing for march past parade.

The security has been being tightened by the district administration and every vehicle is being checked thoroughly. A cleanliness drive and marathon walk marked the first two days of the three-day celebration of Independence Day in the township of Tangla. A cleanliness drive by VDP members and Tangla Town Committee was organized on Saturday which was iugurated by D. Kalita, OC, Tangla.

A marathon walk was held from Tangls HS Field on Sunday morning which was flagged off by Udiaditya Gogoi, SDO (Civil) Bhergaon. Saptati Endow, Assistant Commissioner, Bhergaon and Dr Prasen Daimari, Principal, Tangla College, among others were present on the occasion.

The celebration of the 70th Independence Day in Tangla HS field on August 15 will be marked by unfurling of the tri-colour by Bhaskar Jyoti Manta, ADC Udalguri, followed by march past parade by nearly 1,000 students of 26 schools and colleges, felicitation of meritorious students in last HSLC and HS exam, cultural programmes and distribution of fruits in patients of Tangla CHC.
