I-Day Terror Plot Foiled by Maharashtra ATS, 3 insurgents arrested with cache of explosives

Mumbai: In yet another incident of foiling terror plots, three insurgents have been arrested from Nallasopara and Satara area today by the Mumbai Police Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) with huge quantity of explosives, including 20 bombs ready to be exploded.

Insurgent groups are trying their best to execute terror plots as the preparations for Independence Day is at full swing across the nation.

Police sources informed that the arrested terrorists have been identified as Vaibhav Raut (40), Sharad Kadaskar (25) and Sudhanva Gondhalekar (39).

Reportedly, the trio had planned to execute terror attacks in Pune, Solapur, Satara and Nalasopara. They have now been sent to ATS custody till August 18.

Acting on a tip-off from an ATS mole, the action team raided the area and seized a huge cache of ammunition tat included as many as 20 country-made bombs, gelatin sticks and other materials used in explosives making. The ATS officials arrested the three person during the raid and the officers are of the view that a major terror plot has been thwarted.

Raut has been identified to be a member of the Hindu Govansh Raksha Samiti. Kalaskar was held by the ATS team from Nallasopara of Palghar district and Gondhalekar was nabbed from Pune.

The arrested insurgents have now been booked under sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Explosives Act. They were produced in a Mumbai court following which they have been sent to ATS custody till August 18.
