I played with rawab tenga as I could not afford a football: Chandan

MANGALDAI, July 18: “I used to play with a rawab tenga

(Pamelo or citrus maxima) as I could not afford a football due to my poverty and at the end of the match I along with my friends ate it up. I am very fortute for my selection as the only young footballers of Assam to undergo a six year long coaching in football in Germany- a country of which I have no idea, but with my little knowledge I know it to be land of football. I am grateful to my coach Samual Basumatary who has identified my skills in football who took me to the selection camp and I am also grateful to the Tata Trust and U Sports for providing me the rare opportunity. I shall devote my life for football only”, said nine year old wonder boy of football Chandan Boro while receiving a rousing felicitation function organized at Chapai near here by the Chapai Yuba Kalyan Kendra and Theatre Porichala Somiti on Monday evening. Mention may be made here that Chandan Boro –a class IV standard student of Harisinga in Udalguri district-40 km to the north from here has been selected as the only football talent to avail six years coaching in football in Germany in a selection camp organized by the Tata Trust and U Sports.
