IAF employee murder: CJM court issues notice to police

FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT

JORHAT, April 23: In response to a petition filed by the wife of a deceased employee of Indian Air Force (IAF) station, Rowriah, the CJM court here on Thursday issued an order to bring the murder case to the notice of police who allegedly refrained from the arrest of any of the five accused whose mes were mentioned by the complaint clearly in her written complaint. The complaint Pinky Sharma Rawat of the IAF station stated before the CJM court that delayed action by police might help the accused persons to tamper the evidence of their involvement in the murder of her husband. Though police registered a case under the Indian Pel Code (IPC) on March 7, none of the med accused persons have been arrested in connection with the murder of Dharmindra Singh Rawat, the deceased husband of Pinky. She med five colleagues and friends of Rawat in connection with the murder as they had taken him to Kokilamukh in Jorhat and allegedly brutally assaulted him to death on March 6 this year. According to her, KS Singh, D Pandey, Pradip, Lokendra Singh and Sanjay Singh of Air Force Station Rowriah were involved in the case.  She alleged before the court that concerned police officers refrained from the arrest of any “med accused” since the last 45 days.

“Whenever the petitioner approached the investigating officers to know about the case, at all times they replied that investigation was on. But it has been reliably learnt that persons with vested interests are trying to hush up the matter for fear of facing discipliry action and it is the main cause of non-arrest of the med accused in the case,” stated the petitioner’s advocate Anup Kumar Dutta in the court. The advocate said that the CJM court on Thursday informed Jorhat Superintendent of Police about the matter  “so that the concern of the victim could be properly dealt with”.
