Itagar, Feb 23: The Indian Air Force (IAF) yesterday rescued 15 stranded labourers from Dibang River in Lower Dibang Valley district of Aruchal Pradesh. The district administration swung into action and detailed a MI-17 helicopter, as soon as it received news of 10 labourers of vayug Engineering Company working in bridge construction site with five villagers, stranded in the middle of the river near Bomjir village due to sudden rise in water level following torrential rainfall.

According to an official report today, earth cutting machineries of the company including AMW, dumper and crane have been stuck in the middle of the river. The report added that the Bomjir and Nizam Ghat road linking Dambuk sub-division to the district headquarters Roing, has been closed due to increase in river water as a result of which surface communication to Dambuk is also cut off from all sides.
