IMPHAL, May 27: Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh has taken a strong exception to the way  some BJP ministers from the Centre have been “violating the model code of conduct”. He said that of late these ministers have been asking the people to vote foBJP candidates in the ADC elections for speedy developmental schemes in the State. He dared the BJP president in Imphal to give a response in this regard.

He was speaking on the occasion of the unveiling of a statue of Pukhrambam Kajao. The function was organised by the Pukhrambam Kajao Memorial Trust.

“When the cabinet decided to provide a government job to a member of the bereaved family, the BJP is crying hoarse saying that it is violation of model code of conduct,” he said.

He also threatened to disclose the details including denial of central assistances.

“A minister is for the people and not for a party.

When a minister comes he is taken straight to the BJP office without permitting the government officials to meet him. When a Congress minister came to Imphal the Congress never secreted him to the Congress office in this manner,” the CM said.

He said that all should respect and emulate Kajao who had speared to death Greenwood and others in Imphal. Floral tributes were paid to the sword, spear and shield used by Kajao in those days.
