ICC confirms resigtion of Kamal

Dubai/Dhaka, April 1: The Intertiol Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed the resigtion of its president Bangladeshi Mustafa Kamal over World Cup trophy-giving fiasco and said in a statement on Wednesday its board will decide on the vacant position at its forthcoming meeting in Dubai on April 15-16.

Kamal resigned as president of ICC earlier on Wednesday over who should have given away the World Cup trophy to fifth-time winners Australia on Sunday.

The ICC statement said Kamal was stepping down on “persol grounds” and offered his apologies to all associated with the ICC, while adding that he had no complaints to make against anyone. “Let the game of cricket under the leadership of ICC touch the hearts and minds of every cricket lover,â” he wrote in his letter to ICC chief executive David Richardson.
