GUWAHATI, March 26: 24th All Assam Inter District Tennis championship got under way at the Jorhat Tennis Club today. The meet was iugurated by noted sports administrator Dr Tapan Dutta. Earlier in the iugural function Raktim Saikia, the president of the All Assam Tennis Association, congratulated Parikshit Somani on being selected in the three-member Indian Junior Davis cup team which will take part in the Asia Oceania Fil qualifying round scheduled to be held in Australia from April 8. All Assam Tennis Association has announced a grant of Rs 51,000 to Parikshit in the function. Altogether 9 teams-Jorhat, Guwahati, gaon, Golaghat, Sivasagar, Dibrugarh, Sonitpur, Dhemaji and NF Railway are taking part in this edition of the Inter district Tennis championship.
