IGNOU opens study centre at Dhemaji Commerce College

DHEMAJI, Feb 19: Indira Gandhi tiol Open University (IGNOU) started its study centre at Dhemaji Commerce College. It was  iugurated  by Biren Konwar, a senior teacher of Dhemaji Commerce College and president of Dhemaji- Dhakuakha  zone of Assam College Teachers’ Association.

The meeting was presided over by Pradip Bora, Principal in-charge of the college. Anil Chandra Bora, Regiol Director of IGNOU and Dr. Banjit Bhatta, Associate Professor of Zoology Department of Dhemaji College, were the invited guests. Dr. Ataur Rahman, Associate Professor of English department of Dhemaji Commerce College and coorditor of the IGNOU Study Centre, initiated the programme and welcomed the guests and the students of different institutions.

Teachers and students of the institution took active part in the meeting. The study centre has initially started postgraduate degree course in Commerce, English, Philosophy, Political Science and B.A. and B.Com degree course. At present the study centre has started eight subjects and in course of time, depending on the demand of the students, other subjects are expected to be included.
