IGSSS distributes water pumps in flood-affected areas of Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR, Jan 12: Indo-Global Social Service Society(IGSSS), a non-governmental organization working in the backward areas of Lakhimpur district, has taken up a water pump distribution programme in the flood-affected areas to help the farmers. As a part of the programme, the NGO, in association with HDFC Bank, distributed a total of 75 water pumps on Thursday among the farmers of 25 villages under Telahi Mauza. It is expected that these water pumps will help the flood-affected farmers to choose a substitute farming system through which they can repair their damages in the last flood.

The distribution of the water pump sets was formally iugurated by Prakash Kumar Gogoi, the Lakhimpur District Agriculture Officer (DAO), in a programme held in Rantijan Ranga Mancha. In addition to the DAO, ADO Prab Jyoti Baruah and jourlist Kumud Baruah highlighted how the flood-affected farmers could reap the harvest and earn by adopting substitute farming system addressing the gathering in the programme which was anchored by Field Coorditor of the NGO Pimoni Baruah. Besides her, Assistant Mager Dharani Payeng along with Hari Boro, Michal Topno, Anta Boro, Mantu Saikia, official of Agriculture Department, Khagen were present in the programme.
