IIM-S to celebrate next generation leadership at EmergE 2016

SHILLONG, Sept 16: The 5th edition of EmergE, the 2-day Annual Entrepreneurship Summit of IIM Shillong organized by I-Cube - the Entrepreneurship Cell of the college, kicked off today with a plethora of competitions, conclaves and workshops to energise the Entrepreneurship spirit of the North East. EmergE this year resotes with modern day start-up ideas and aims to celebrate the undaunted spirit of the region.

The stage was set with a number of competitions held in the build up to EmergE with events like HRahasya, Antra Prer, Apprentice 5.0, Lights Camera.Partner and Stylus revolving around various themes from fun to corporate functions and saw enthusiastic participation from various B-Schools of the country.

Emerge also welcomed Sunit Saraswat, The Chief Operating Officer of Zopnow.com to IIM Shillong campus for a ‘Words of Wisdom’ Session posts all the exciting Pre-EmergE Events.

The Formal Summit starts off with an Investor’s Conclave to offer the students and budding entrepreneurs a glimpse into the mind of an investor and what it takes to make a winning pitch.

Experts delivering the talk include Debli Majumdar (start-up advisor and entrepreneur), Vikram Duggal (investor, strategy mentor and consultant) and Jipun Bhatia (COO, Aarohan Fincial Services Ltd.). Following the Investor Conclave, B-Plan competition, Aarohan and the Voonik Case Study Challenge are lined up to test the Business Acumen of future leaders.

The second day also holds a lot in store for the participants, as this year’s summit will be marked by IIM Shillong’s first ever ‘Innovation Conclave’, which intends to discuss and deliberate the ever changing trends of the startup ecosystem and promote disruptive ideation with a view to creating successful, scalable business models.  The event will host Sunit Saraswat (COO, ZopnQWzCQm) and Faisal Ahmad (CEO & Founder, BIS Research) as its marquee speakers.  

The ‘Innovation Conclave’ would be followed by the ‘Entertainment Conclave’, which promises to offer budding entrepreneurs a platform to discuss the plethora of opportunities that the entertainment sector has to offer, and the paradigm shifters that have fundamentally altered this space for good. The event is set to host a wide array of eminent speakers, including Mee Longjam (Documentary Filmmaker, Airameen Media), Rebecca Changkija (Fashion Designer), Subhash Talekar and Arvind Talekar (Mumbai Dabbawalas), and Shriyans Bhandari (CEO & Co-Founder, Greensole India) along with esteemed film and theatre persolity, Piyush Mishra amongst others.
