IIT Guwahati Secures Second Cleanest Technical Institute Award

The IIT Guwahati not only ranks amongst the forerunners in terms of its campus results but in the category of maintaining a clean campus as well. In a Swachch Campus Ranking 2018 of Higher Educational Institutions conducted by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), IIT Guwahati ranked second.

The awards to the top performing institutes were conferred in an award presentation ceremony of Swachch Campus Ranking 2018 of Higher Educational Institutions held in New Delhi on Monday.

Different institutes have been able to achieve the awards in different categories and the rankings were announced by Union Human Resource Development Minister (HRD) Prakash Javadekar. Notably, it was only last year that the rankings were introduced by MHRD in order to encourage the educational institutions towards cleanliness.

The cleanliness rankings are made on the basis of parameters like toilet adequacy and maintenance, garbage clearance systems and various other criteria. The institute to be ranked first in the category of cleanest government university is Haryana’s Maharashi Dayanand University, followed by Guru Nanak Dev University in Punjab’s Amritsar. The third spot is captured by the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS), Delhi.

Among the residential campuses of private universities, Pune’s Symbiosis International University topped followed by OP Jindal Global University in Sonipat, KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research in Belagavi and Manipal University in Jaipur.

The non-residential campuses of private universities are topped by Raipur’s ITM University. The second and third positions are captured by the Northcap University in Gurugram and Dr CV Raman University in Bilaspur, respectively.

The category of cleanest technical institutions is topped by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in Coimbatore with IIT-G and Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan University in Bhubhaneshwar jointly in the second spot and the Indian Institute of Information Technology in New Delhi in the third spot.
