Illegal Migrants from Assam To Be Checked by Nagaland Government from July 31 Onwards

Kohima: In the wake of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) exercise in Assam, the Nagaland Government today declared that it would put up strict measures to control the influx of illegal migrants from Assam.

As per an official statement published by the Nagaland Government, a decisive meeting was held between the State Home Department and the Nagaland Police Department, it was concluded that strict measures are required to put a check on growing influx of illegal migrants from Assam. The meeting was held under the aegis of Nagaland chief secretary Temjen Toy.

He further stated that the Government of Nagaland is contemplating to carry out exercise on enrolment under NRC.

The report further informed that additional Indian Reserve Battalion units are being deployed along with flying squads in order to tackle the situation and avert any untoward incidents during the process. Also, the securities at state borders have been beefed up to control migration attempts from Assam.
