Illegal sawmills, timber seized

Tamulpur, Oct 8: Two illegal sawmills and a large number of valuable timber logs were seized by Tamulpur Forest Range on Sunday at Kaurbaha Borghuli village under Tamulpur subdivision in the district of Baksa.

On Sunday morning, Subdivisiol Officer (Civil) Sujit Baglary, Ranger Keshab Kumar Brahma with a team of forest officials, Tamulpur Police and a team of 31 IR BN of Mijo launched an operation and seized two sawmills along with two power generators worth Rs 4 lakh and seized valuable timber worth Rs. 50 ,000.

All the seized items were brought to Tamulpur forest range office. Machines from another illegal sawmill were shifted before they could be seized. Ranger Keshab Brahma had appealed to close down all illegal sawmills in Tamulpur area else strict action will be taken.
