Illegal settlements over important roads in Dibrugarh town cause concern

From our Staff Correspondent

Dibrugarh, Feb 13: Strongly reacting to the illegal settlements over the important roads and public places of Dibrugarh town, the members of Dibrugarh garik Sangha (DNS), while raising eyebrows over the role of the district administration, police and Municipality, have demanded immediate eviction of such encroachers.

The president and general secretary of DNS, Jogendra th Bora  and Ron Dowerah , expressed their utter resentment over the fact. They stated that despite several complaints lodged on several occasions before the authorities concerned, no positive response was initiated to resolve the issue nor take any steps to evict all encroachers and free the roads and strategic areas.  Due to the presence of small business establishments over the pavements of  some  important roads like New Market, Rotary Road, Hanuman Singhania (HS) Road and  RK Bordoloi Road , the passersby were facing difficulties, the president of DNS Jogendra th Bora stated.

In addition to the above, the DNS,  while alleging the non-application of practical and scientific technology by the PWD department in renovating and widening of Tarun Ram Phukan Road from Amolapatty to Chowkidinghee ; Railway Crossing Road from Chowkidinghee to Molokubasa , Karmabir bin Chandra Bordoloi Path (Convoy Road) and  Bordoloi Avenue Path from Graham Bazaar to AMCH,  have sought the intervention of Deputy Commissioner at the earliest.
