'Illegal steps' of KNP director flayed

BOKAKHAT, July 16 : Many students and socio-economic organizations of Bokakhat and Golaghat along with the Greater Kaziranga Human Resource and Environment Protection Committee have expressed resentment over the’ illegal steps’ taken by the Kaziranga tiol Park (KNP)  Director who had sent the proposal for eco-sensitive zone  secretly to the State Government on June 13 defying the declaration of the Bokakhat administration and the chairman of the hearing committee who had postponed the hearing on eco-sensitive zone proposal on July 30 on public demand as the hearing had been arranged at a very short term notice.

On that day, Damodar Bormon, Executive Magistrate in Bokakhat, and SS Rao, the chairman of the Hearing Committee at the KNP Director’s Office promised that a new date of hearing would be declared soon with prior notification of one month. Golaghat and Bokakhat AASU , AATTSA , TPMK ,Gorkha Students’ Union , Chutia Jati Chatra Parisad and Greater Kaziranga Human Resource and Environment Protection Committee demanded that the proposal sent to the government should be made public within 48 hours. On the other hand , the KMSS Golaghat , in a statement signed by secretary Ratan Dao,  vehemently criticized the role of the KNP authority for sending the proposal to the government without taking consent of the public as promised on July 30.
