Illegal timber seized

MANGALDAI, Aug 18: A section of organized gang of timber smugglers in connivance of a section of forest officials have been carrying out flourishing business of illegal timber business even by setting up of illegal saw mill in Darrang district. This has come to the light with a sudden operation conducted by the Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Barman this morning. 
Acting promptly on receipt of complaints from a conscious circle, the Deputy Commissioner accompanied by Additiol Superintendent of Police Suman Chakravorty and a team of forest officials conducted the operation at  Sopora village near Jaljali under Mangaldai Police Station and seized a large number of logs. However the cunning gang of the timber smugglers maged to fled away from the spot along with the uuthorized saw mill. The forest officials were asked to seize the timber logs. The Deputy Commissioner also strictly directed the police to arrest the timber smugglers. The prompt initiative of the Deputy Commissioner has widely been appreciated.
