PATHSALA, July 4: In Barpeta district a biker without a helmet will not be allowed to buy fuel from any petrol pump in Bajali. Concerned with the rising graph of two-wheeler accidents in the town, few months back the subdivisional magistrate of Bajali issued an order not to sell petrol and diesel to riders without helmets. The administration has also directed the fuel depot owners not to sell ‘motor spirit’ to those who bring containers or bottles.

The Supply Department, under the direction of SDO (civil) Bajali, acting on a tip of Bajali supply branch, conducted raid operation at several places and seized more than 200 litres petrol meant for illegal sale in the open market of Sarupata area of Bajali subdivision in Barpeta district.

Under the direction of SDO (C) of Bajali subdivision, Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy P, several places in Bajali area were raided and many litres of petrol and diesel were seized from the possession of Baikhunta Das and Jahuruddin of village Geruapara under Sarupeta police outpost on Tuesday. The supply department also seized 115 litres of petrol and 115 litres diesel from the possession of one Abdul Kalam of the same village. The accused persons have been storing this petrol and diesel for illegal selling. The Supply Department will lodge FIR against the accused person.
