Illicit liquor vendors urged to take up respectable trade

Dibrugarh, July 6: An awareness programme was conducted  on Wednesday  jointly by United RSETI, Dibrugarh and State Excise Department, Dibrugarh at RSETI Auditorium under the persol initiative of the Deputy Commissioner of Dibrugarh district. The programme was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Laya Madduri. The other dignitaries who participated were  Amitabha Sengupta (DGM & CRM, United Bank of India, (RO Dibrugarh), Ajoy Kumar Bayon (Superintendent of State Excise, Dibrugarh), Babul Chandra Sharma (State Director of  RSETIs), Amitava Bhattacharjee (Director of United RSETI, Dibrugarh), Mukul Kachari (Lead District Mager), A. Khanikar (Deputy Superintendent of Excise) and Mash Pratim Das.

About 80 participants from the adjoining areas of the district – Moran, Lahowal, Dikom, Chabua and Dibrugarh - who are engaged in illicit liquor  business attended the programme. LDM Mukul Kachari welcomed the dignitaries and participants and briefly  outlined  the  motive of organizing the awareness programme.

For the benefit of the participants and the society, the workshop deliberated on a gainful alterte business opportunity. Deputy Commissioner participated in an interactive session with the participants and suggested them on altertive job opportunity based on their skills and capability. The participant assured that they would start a respectable trade by switching over from the existing illicit trade. Every participant shared his views in taking up new ventures in various trades.

In the programme, the Deputy Commissioner said that the interested participants would be given priority for credit linkage from banks and they might opt to undergo  various entrepreneurship development training programs conducted by United RSETI, Dibrugarh which would help them to settle as successful entrepreneurs. She also hoped that all vendors would join in this noble mission  so that they could avoid legal hazards and prosecution. In his deliberation, the Lead District Mager briefed  about various loan schemes which might suit them and  Director of United RSETI, Dibrugarh also detailed about the various EDP training programmes conducted by United RSETI, Dibrugarh.
