Immediate implementation of tea workers wage draft demanded

GUWAHATI, Nov 5: The Asom Sangrami Chah Shramik Sangha (ASCSS) demanded immediate implementation of the draft on wage hike of the tea workers, which was decided by wage board committee in a press conference in Guwahati Press Club today. “As per the discussion between the State government and the advisory wage board committee on last July 29, the wage of tea workers in our state was decided as Rs 177.19 per day, which was not implemented till date due to complain by two workers’ associations and owner party. The decision was taken in democratic way, in which seven votes were for the hike of wage whereas four were against the hike among the members of the wage board committee. However, the government had not taken any steps yet to declare the fil wage of the workers due to some unknown reasons,” said Vivek Das, president of ASCSS.
