'Implementation of Central schemes to be reviewed every quarter'

Ampati, June 7: Member of Parliament and Chairman, District Development Co-ordition & Monitoring Committee (Disha), Conrad K. Sangma said that the Disha Committee would review the implementation of all centrally-sponsored schemes in all the blocks every three months and has asked the implementing district officers not to take it as a fault finding but as a means of finding solutions to the problems of implementation and better coordition to ensure effective implementation of the schemes in the best interest of the people.

He was addressing the district officials during the meeting to review the status, achievements and issues of implementation of centrally sponsored schemes at Betasing C&RD Block headquarters in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Cyril VD Diengdoh, ADC & PD, DRDA, HDB Sangma, other members of Disha Committee including Md Rafiqul Islam, Selsella MDC, Dipul R Marak, Subhir Marak, BDOs of Betasing & Zikzak C&RD blocks, district heads of line departments and the general public on Wednesday.  This is the first review meeting by Disha in the district in the current fincial year. The last review meeting chaired by Conrad K. Sangma was held at Zikzak C&RD Block headquarter during the month of February. In the first session of the day-long review meeting, the heads of implementing departments made a presentation before the MP on the status, achievements as well as issues and constraints in implementation of Central schemes like MGNREGS, IAS PMAY-G, tiol Social Assistance Programmes, PMGSY, tiol Health Mission and tiol Rural Drinking Water Programme, among others.

He commended the performance of the district in the implementation of MGNREGS which saw a steep climb in the percentage of man-days generated during 2015-16, even as the district has set a target of achieving 100% man-days this current fincial year.

He also told the implementing departments to show their achievements and constraints instead of just showing the expenditures and utilization of funds in their presentations and also to explore ways of enhancing the delivery mechanism at all levels, while at the same time assuring them that he would take up their problems and constraints with the ministries concerned at his level.
