Importance of books stressed at awareness meeting

DULIAJAN, October 3: An awareness meeting on the topic ‘Kitap Parhu Aahok’ was held recently at the premises of Duliajan Girls’ College.

The awareness programme was organized by the Department of Library Science, Duliajan Girls’ College, in association with Axom Puthibharal Sangha (AXM), Guwahati. In the prgramme, as a chief guest Dr Aloka Buragohain, president of AXM and honorary director of Media Archive, spoke about the importance of books and urged public and rural libraries to take initiatives for attracting readers.

As a guest of honour, Dr vajyoti Das, Librarian of Handique Girls’ College, Guwahati said reading books made a person mentally strong.

Dhiman Shil, general secretary of AXM , professors of Duliajan Girls’ College along with many distinguished persons attended the programme.
