Haflong, June 21: With rest of the world, the 2nd Intertiol Yoga Day was organized by the district administration in association with District Ayush Society at Haflong with great enthusiasm at the indoor stadium of N L Daolagupu Sports Complex on Tuesday.
The Intertiol Yoga Day was also observed by various NGO and organizations such as Ayush Society and Art of Living in different parts of the district such as Maibang, Umrangso, and Harangajao.
At Haflong town a yoga programme was organized at Cultural Institution Hall, Jagath Bari temple near Haflong Lake. Amarendra Baruah, Deputy Commissioner of Dima Hasao, participated in the programme at NL Daulagupu Indoor Stadium where he welcomed all the participants. He spoke about the origin of yoga and its reference with the Vedas. Speaking on the occasion, DC Baruah stressed its importance in present times.
Bahim Chandra Langthasa, a senior citizen and litterateur explained the meaning of yoga and importance in present days. Dr Dipali Barman, who was also present at the venue, briefly spoke about the necessity of yoga to relive stress. Explaining about the importance of yoga, Dr. Barman called yoga a stress neutralizer for both body and mind.
Acharya Chinmoy Brahmachari of Anda Ashram along with his disciples from Ayush Society demonstrated the postures of yogass and remedy for various ailments. The programme was attended by a large number of people from various walks.
