 From a Correspondent

Tezpur, Nov 27: There has been strong reaction over the recent act of absolute negligence on the part of a Supervisor of the Social Welfare Department in Tezpur in Sonitpur district after 300 important documents related to physically-abled persons were found scattered on the road by an auto-rickshaw driver. According to sources, Ajoy Bora, an auto rickshaw driver, noticed a sack full of documents with official seal on the road at Mission Charilai, Tezpur. Picking up the sack, he deposited it at the Sonitpur Jourlist Union office. Bora has been lauded from various quarters for his integrity and social responsibility.
The sack containing vital credentials related to physically-abled persons was given to a Supervisor of the Social Welfare Department to take from the office of the Child Project Department, Baghmari under the Social Welfare Department, Sonitpur to the District Social Welfare Office, Tezpur. But instead of submitting the important documents at the desigted office, they were left on the road by the Supervisor. The documents were pertaining to the Bihali Handicapped Association and interacting with Utpal Bhuyan, secretary of Bihali Handicapped Association, the documents were later handed over to Utpal Bhuyan.
Sources further said that the documents were supposed to be submitted within November 25 to grant aid of Rs 5,000 to the physically-able persons under the Din Dayal Upadhaya Scheme on December 3 through bank transfer. The Supervisor was entrusted the works of carrying the vital documents to the desigted officer and although the documents were missing, the Supervisor surprisingly had not made any efforts to find the sack. As per official sources, it was reported that necessary action would be taken against the erring official by the Social Welfare Department.
