‘Impossible to stop Messi’

Barcelo, May 7: Former Barcelo striker Thierry Henry said that when footballer Lionel Messi decides to win a game it is impossible to stop him. Henry's comments come after he watched his former teammate score two stupendous goals in the Champions League semi-fil against Bayern Munich at Camp Nou here on Wednesday night.

"He wanted to win that game and he did it again. You just give him the ball around the box and the rest is history. May be Bayern Munich didn't approach the game in the right way in the first half but in the second half there wasn't much between the two teams. Then Messi decided to win that game," Henry was quoted as saying by espnfc.com.

"I have seen him doing stuff in training and it is just amazing. When he gets upset, he runs around the whole team. There is nothing you can do."

Henry was Messi's teammate when Barcelo won the Champions League in 2008-09.

"Messi is just superb. When you have Messi it is a big advantage. When you have that man in your side, anything can happen," he said.

The former Arsel and France forward said he feels how Jerome Boateng was bamboozled by Messi's swift movement which had the former thrown of his feet that led to the Argentine's second goal.

"I don't care who you are, what type of defender you are, you don't want to let him go on his left foot, so he goes back on his right and does that. What can you do? You just have to hope (Manuel) Neuer can save you again," he said.

"The way he (Boateng) falls is actually funny, but what can you do? You can just go on the floor and watch him celebrate. It's amazing. What is crazy is Messi does it all in one step of movement. If I tried to do that, I would fall over. You have to understand how difficult it is to do this." IANS
