Improve NE connectivity: Tuki

Itagar, March 12: Chief Minister bam Tuki has called for immediate measures to improve air and road connectivity of the North Eastern states with the ASEAN countries in order to realize the ‘Act East Policy’ of the Centre in totality.

Tuki air dashed to New Delhi Wednesday morning to attend the iugural session of the 7th edition of the Delhi Dialogue with the Theme ‘ ASEAN - India: Shaping the Post 2015 Agenda’, organized by union Exterl Affairs Ministry, an official report informed here today.

The chief minister emphasized that the North Eastern region could act as a nucleus for boosting ties with the ASEAN countries and mainland India.

He opined that strong ties with ASEAN countries would help in the progress of the region by opening up opportunities for all round socio-economic growth. He also highlighted the possibilities and potential of Aruchal Pradesh in the panel discussion of the dignitaries.

Exterl Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, MoS V K Singh, Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, Chief Minister of Manipur Ibobi Singh were among the dignitaries present, the report added.
