Imran Khan: Vajpayee's attempts for the betterment of India-Pak relationship will always be remembered

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman and the new Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan offered his condolence at the demise of former Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee. For holding a strong connection with India, Khan could feel the loss India have faced on the death of one of the most loved and admired politicians of the country.

Imran Khan addressed the departed soul as the "towering leader" and also mentioned that the best way to show honour and respect to late Vajpayee would be to establish peaceful connections between India and Pakistan.

While passing his statement on the demise of the former Prime Minister, Imran Khan said, "As Prime Minister, Vajpayee sahab took the initiative to further improving Indo- Pakistan relations. With the death of Vajpayee sahab, South Asian politics now left with a huge political vacuum. There can be political differences but both sides of the border want peace. It is only through establishing peace that we can really honour the legacy of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. In this moment of grief following the demise of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, I stand with the people of India,"

Khan's respect and admiration for Vajpayee are prominent in his last words of tribute to the political giant. Khan also recalled how Vajpayee had put his efforts towards the betterment of India-Pakistan relationship. Vajpayee's role as a Foreign Minister too is remembered by Khan who heartily worked towards strengthening the India-Pakistan relations.

A statement released by Pakistan Foreign Office mentioned that they have learnt the passing away of Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, former Prime Minister of India with sadness. It recalled Mr. Vajpayee as a renowned statesman who contributed to bringing a change in India-Pakistan relations and remained a key supporter of SAARC and regional cooperation for development. The Government and people of Pakistan extended their heartfelt condolences to his family and to the Government and people of India.
