In a First, Students of IIT Goa Set Their Own Question Paper

Students of IIT Goa frame their end semester questions and answers the same. The question paper read thar similarities in answers would lead to reduction of overall score.

Goa: The COVID19 outbreak has forced the people to change the ways of educating and learning. Over the year unconventional methods of exam patterns, classes and different ways learning have been seen in the country. With the changing times, the methods of evaluation in schools and colleges have also changed.

In view of the current situation in the Indian Institute of Goa has taken a step further and left people amused. A viral screenshot of the analogue question paper of the end semester examinations have been making rounds in the internet. The question paper asked students to prepare questions themselves and answer them.

The students were asked to prepare questions of 60 marks from the lecture materials provided in the entire semester and answer them. The students were also instructed to answer the paper in two hours of time. This exercise carried 40 marks and in the second part of the instructions the students were asked to answer the questions set by themselves. And this exercise carried 40 marks.

In the instructions it was also written that students should not discuss this with their peers as it may reduce the score if similarities were to be found.

This unique method of evaluation caught peoples attention in social media and many have been appreciating the faculty members since then. Many twitter posts were seen in this context and people were seen sharing their views and amusement.

A twitter user quoted, " Woah, What an examination! You prepare questions for yourself and answer the same. Gotta say IIT Goa has found out this unique way to evaluate student by themselves. It's not gonna be easy when you are set free to choose questions to answer. Gonna be the test of integrity too."



Many people were seen applauding IIT Goa for taking this step. People shared their views and many said that these types of evaluation methods help to test the ability of the students better.

Another Twitter user quoted, " This is actually difficult if you don't know the concepts thoroughly and the teachers check the paper thoroughly to catch copying."

Many people feel that these types of methods to evaluate will the students in future and will help in solving the problem of leaking papers before examinations.
