Include Ahom community representatives in ministry: ATASU

DEMOW, May 25: The All Tai Ahom Students’ Union (ATASU), Demow Regiol Committee has congratulated the BJP-led alliance government, newly-elected Chief Minister of Assam Sarbanda Sonowal, all ministers, MLAs along with Kushal Dowari, new MLA of Thowra constituency. In a press release, Jayanta Gogoi, president, Moon Dowarah, working president, Sumeet Handique and Shyam Unmesh Dehingia, joint secretaries of All Tai Ahom Students’ Union (ATASU), Demow Regiol Committee, said that till 28 years the All Tai Ahom Students’ Union had been protesting for equal rights and development for the Ahoms along with all ethnic groups. Protests were on for granting Scheduled Tribe (SC) status to the six communities. ATASU Demow Regiol Committee had urged the BJP-led alliance government to work for the people of Assam, to take proper steps to safeguard land and also to include Ahom community representatives in the new ministry.
