Independence Day preparatory meeting held

GUWAHATI, July 18: Presided over by Kamrup (M) Deputy Commissioner Virendra Mittal, a preparatory meeting on the forthcoming Independence Day’ 2018 for the main programme of the state which will be held at Veterinary Field, Khanapara was held at Circuit House on Wednesday, a government communiqué said.

During the meeting, Mittal ordered PWD (B) dept to complete its tendering process for the erection of tents, PWD (E) dept for the electrification in the field from the time of practice for march past by the security forces and APDCL for uninterrupted power supply. He ordered PWD (R) to repair the roads and drains in an around the field, GMC to install sufficient numbers of toilets and to clean up drains, ASTC to provide buses for the public for the conveyance, Guwahati Metropolitan Dev. Authority (GMDA) to illuminate the important statues in the city and to illuminate and install CC TV camera at Shardhanjali Kannan and to flower decoration in the main venue, Forest dept. for trimming and pruning of trees and for the supply of sands for the field, Food & Civil Supply and Consumer Affairs Department for the refreshment of police and performers, DIPR for providing good quality sound system, inviting the media persons and engagement of anchors.
