Independent candidate wins autonomous council polls in Margherita

MARGHERITA, Dec 17: Rima Deori, Independent candidate for 7 no. Margherita constituency of the Deori Autonomous Council, won the seat by defeating her nearest rival Junu Deori of BJP by 61 votes. Total three candidates were in the fray for 7 no. Margherita constituency of the Deori Autonomous Council. Rima Deori got 619 votes, Junu Deori of BJP got 558 votes while Sonia Deori of Congress got only 161 votes. There were total 1,853 voters and 76.51 per cent voter turnout was recorded for 7 no. Margherita constituency. Today’s result is a big loss for BJP as many senior leaders of Margherita BJP, including Margherita constituency MLA Bhaskar Sharma had campaigned for BJP candidate Junu Deori.
