India clinch gold in women hockey

GUWAHATI, Feb 11: Indian women’s hockey team clinched gold medal in the 12th South Asian games thrashing Sri Lanka 10-0 in the fil held at the Moula Tayabullah Hockey Stadium here today. Rani scored three goal while Preeti, Yendala, Pum, Deepika, Ritu and Jaspreet got the others. Nepal bagged bronze medal.
India needed just 2 minutes to open their account through Rani and increased the margin two minutes later and this time too Rani strikes. Host pumped in four more goals in the first half and went into the lemon brake with 6-0 lead.The match witnessed four more goals  in the second half.  Talkinng to The Sentinel just after the fil Indian captain Ritu said, “ I am happy with the performance. Most of the members of the team are junior but still we maged to win the title without facing too much difficulties. I feel this win will help our junior to improve their level of confident.”
