New Delhi, June 8: India on Wednesday strongly condemned the terror attack in Turkey's Istanbul city on Tuesday that claimed 11 lives. “India strongly condemns the terror attack that occurred in Istanbul on 7 June, 2016,” the Exterl Affairs Ministry said in a statement.

“We offer condolences to the bereaved families and wish speedy recovery to the injured,” it said. “This dastardly act once again underlines the need for concerted action by the global community against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations,” it added. Seven police personnel and four civilians were killed with over 30 others injured on Tuesday in an attack targeting a police vehicle in Istanbul.

A bomb-laden car was detoted as the vehicle was passing by a police station, according to Istanbul Governor Vasip Sahin. The police vehicle was heading to Istanbul University for regular duty. Gunshots were heard after the explosion, officials said. (IANS)
