India domite in track and field event

GUWAHATI, Feb 11: India domited in the track and field today and won 11 gold medals at the 12th South Asian Games held at Indira Gandhi Athletics stadium here today. Javelin thrower Suman Devi achieved the day’s best performance throwing javelin to a distance of 59.45m which also created a new tiol record. The 11 athletes who won gold on the perultimate day of athletics event are Suman Devi (women’s javelin), Renjith Maheswary (men’s triple jump), PU Chitra (women’s 1500m), Om Prakash Karha (men’s shot put), Ajay Kumar Saroj (men’s 1500m), Dharun Ayyasamy (men’s 400m hurdles), Jau Murmu (women’s 400m hurdles), L Surya (women’s 10,000m), Srabani nda (women’s 200m) and men’s and women’s 4x400 relay teams. Men’s and women’s marathon will be held tomorrow morning.
