Inferno breaks out at Nagaon Paper Mill

JAGIROAD: A devastating fire broke out in the power control house of Nagaon Paper Mill (NPM) under Hindustan Paper Corporation (HPC) on Tuesday night. Electrical property worth several crores was destroyed in the fire. Sources said that the fire broke out due to short circuit.

Fire tenders managed the douse the flames. No casualty was reported. Following the incident, the power supply in the entire colony of the mill got disrupted and it is unlikely that power supply will be restored soon.

Production of Nagaon Paper Mill was stopped two years ago and consequently, the employees have been deprived of their salary and other benefits. The employees have once again demanded steps to revive the paper mill in order to put an end to their sufferings and miseries.
