Inferno claims three lives at Itagar

Itagar, Jan 31: Three persons of a family charred to death in a devastating fire that completely gutted a thatched at Bat village, near here, in the wee hours on Saturday. The deceased have been identified as Bake Tagin (30), his wife 26-year-old Bake A and four-year-old daughter Bake Neme, Itagar extra assistant commissioner J Bomjen informed. Tagin was a farmer and was staying in the traditiol thatched house. The cause of the inferno was yet to be ascertained. According to Bake Takar, a neighbour of the deceased, the body of the girl was found wrapped in a blanket. Local MLA Techi Kaso along with Bomjen rushed to the spot and extended fincial help for conducting the last rites of the victims. In view of the repeated fire accidents in and around the capital complex and the state, Kaso blamed haphazard power connection without following the laid down system, a major cause of fire accident. A case has been registered at Itagar Police station, Bomjen informed adding ex-gratia would be granted to the next kin of the deceased after police submit its report to Capital Complex DC.

Meanwhile, the Aruchal Youth Organization (AYO) deeply mourned the untural deaths and urged the administration to provide relief and compensation to the victims’ family.

Demanding for initiating an enquiry into the incident, the AYO demanded for setting up of another fire station at Gohpur for quick access to such mishaps in the outskirt of Capital city.
