Dibrugarh: “Outward cleanliness does not make a person beautiful. It is the inner purification that keeps a person beautiful,” said the Vice-Chancellor of Dibrugarh University, Dr. Ranjit Tamuli, while speaking at a cleanliness awareness meet held at DHSK College recently.

Gracing the occasion as its chief guest, he maintained that cleanliness contributed towards purification of mind. Stressing much on inward cleanliness, Tamuli added that hygiene and cleanliness was a personal matter for each person and so it was not right for anyone to put forth its description. He also observed that lessons on cleanliness should start right from the school days. Doing this would serve both purposes - internal purification as well as external cleanliness.

Tamuli further said that cleanliness turned a society beautiful and inspired people to work better. Addressing the event, DC Laya Madduri congratulated the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) and DHSK College for organizing a meeting on such an important subject. Executive Engineer of PHED, Bhaskar Sharma, commented on the conscious level of the people of the district regarding cleanliness, and said that the subject had gained much importance in the district. The event, which was attended by a host of other dignitaries, witnessed the participation of several institutions and colleges, including Dibrugarh University, DHSK Commerce College, and MDK Girls’ College.
