Inter-school and college quiz, debate competition held

Tezpur, Feb 26:Sanjeevani- EkProsesta, a socio-cultural organization, organized the 2nd LabanyaBhuyanMemorial Quiz and Debate Competition at the Tezpur Indian Medical Association Auditorium on Sunday.

All together 30 participants from nine schools within greater Sonitpur area took part in thequiz competition while 16 participants from four schools and colleges within greater Sonitpur district participated in the debate competition. In the quiz competition, first and second prizes were bagged by Don Bosco High School and St. Joseph’s Convent HS School respectively and the third prize was bagged by Moonlit High School.

In the debate competition, Pohar Borah of Darrang College was adjudged the winner while HimankuKakati of Darrang College and Shahanoor Ahmed of Tezpur College bagged the second and third places respectively.

The winning team was presented with Rs 3,000 and mementos and certificates, while the second and third ranked teams were given Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,000 respectively, along with certificates and mementos. Hemanta Kumar Baruah, president of TezpurSahityaSabha, attended as a speaker and said that quiz and debate competitions aim at intellectual stimulation of students’ mind for overall healthy mental development and imbibe in them a competitive spirit.
