Golaghat, January 25: The people of the greater Brahmaputra region under Dergaon Revenue Circle in the district of Golaghat are still getting deprived of fruitful development.

The problem of erosion has been a great challenge to the people of this region. Apart from this, they are still lacking in some fundamental needs like health and education. Seeing their pathetic condition of living and to know the ground reality of various problems of the region and to find a solution, Golaghat District Jourlist Association came forward and held an interactive session with the public of the greater Brahmaputra region.

In the premises of Shankar Madhav High School at Joraguri, an interactive session was held on Sunday under the leadership of Golaghat District Jourlist Association president Apurba Ballav Goswami where hundreds of local people had a chance of sharing their sufferings and problems with the jourlist fraternity. The session was conducted by general secretary of Golaghat District Jourlist Association, Rohit Gogoi and the purpose of the session was announced by jourlist Pranob Chakraborty.

Local people raised several issues and appealed to the jourlist fraternity to look into their demands. Electricity to all villages in the region, adequate water supply, construction of bridges on Dissoi River, setting up a health centre at Joraguri, provincialization of Shankar Madhav School and several other schools, to make embankments to prevent flood and erosion, to provide irrigation to paddy fields and several such other demands were raised by people.
